Bleed Printing at Fast Print
Bleed vs No Bleed on Documents
FAQ's
Most digital printers are not able to print edge-to-edge on a sheet of paper. To achieve a full-bleed effect—where color or images extend all the way to the edge—we print your document on a larger sheet and trim it to the final size.
For example, an 11″ × 17″ poster with bleed will be printed on 12″ × 18″ paper and then trimmed down. If no bleed is needed, your document will retain a small unprinted white margin around the edges, typically about 1/8″ to 1/4″.
What We Need From You:
- Please include 1/8″ to 1/4″ of bleed on all sides of any document that requires edge-to-edge printing.
- We strongly recommend that you also include crop marks to indicate where the final trim should occur. This helps ensure that your design is printed and trimmed exactly as intended.
If you’re unsure how to set up your file for bleed, feel free to contact us.
